studio process for Kayak Catapult
sit-apon kayak found washed up on the beach, Salmon River central coast of Oregon

made by Nona Boat Company out of at the time Santa Ana, California, which made kayaks and canoes from 1973-2002, as of 2002 Nona was no longer in business, HIN (hull identification number) of this Nona Baretta sit-apon kayak is NNAB123C0090 which from what I can tell means it was made in March of 1990 model year 1990, I did a HIN search and did not find any history on this specific kayak but I would love to know it's story if anyone out there knows, it was found washed ashore in 2015

kayak wheel frame: trash-found bike wheels, washers from beach-found plastic, beach-found tent stake for axle

trash-found: houseboards, plastic fire extinguisher mount

trash-found houseboards, hardware and marsh-found rope

testing rough draft of the flinging machine - engineering the catapult

marsh-found door/hatch

using this latch as the trigger/release device for the catapult

deciding position of release device before cutting it away from door/hatch

cutaway of door/hatch latch for use as catapult release device

salvaged material offering a moment of repair which I embrace in the aesthetics of my work
